![]() ![]() A few good things, taken together, tipped me over, and these days I use Interface Builder a ton. We have storyboards on Macs now, which make it easier to manage things like preferences windows and login/create-account flows.Īnd we now have IB_DESIGNABLE and IBInspectable, which makes Interface Builder more useful for designers, which is great if you’re like me and want your designers to have as much direct manipulation as possible. It no longer creates unasked-for constraints as I’m working. This would be terrible news, but Interface Builder’s auto layout support is much improved since that old post. (The layout wasn’t actually updated without resizing the window or similar trickery.) This tells me that to stick with the old-fashioned method is to commit to frustration. Recently I was doing layout the old-fashioned way on OS X - using resizeSubviewsWithOldSize: - and, in the specific context where I was using it, it didn’t work correctly. And my use of Interface Builder has changed quite a bit since writing that post.Īuto layout has become more and more a required thing. It’s worthwhile to revisit these old posts when things change. We can rebrand in other ways, like changing the dumb 'lifestyle' slogan, and creating some good informational docs. This post of mine, almost two years old - How Much, or How Little, I Use Interface Builder These Days - was referenced on Twitter recently. Longevity has value in crypto, and Aeon predates most cryptos, which I see as a strength. I definitely think we should NOT try to change the Aeon name in a rebrand. :P However, this can still be of benefit to us, as it is a pretty high market cap coin, and its name sounds the same, so when people talk about it on youtube or whatever, people are going to go searching for 'Aeon coin' and find us. The only problem would be multiple cryptos with the name, and yes there is a dumb fucking ICO token that uses 'Aion', but we were here first, so it is the one that should change. A TON of things in the world use the name 'Aeon', because of its meaning, and thats not a problem. I don't think we need to worry about existing trademarks, as this is a fairly launched, community cryptocurrency, not a business. I DO think that we really need some sort of timeline/roadmap. I don't really like backronyms, and I think that electronic and online are synonymous. Like /u/poorly_timed_leg0las said, most of the miners have left. My guess is that our network is populated entirely by FPGAs or farms where the owner doesn't have easy access to their rigs. Right now, there is no reasonable person mining AEON. That's how the current AEON community was born: a help and discussion channel for mining at home. Whether it's just a personal computer or hundreds of office computers, we all shared a common hobby. Almost every single one of our community contributors were mining AEON at one point. However, I would like to throw in my two cents:īeing able to mine at home is what brought a lot of us here. I don't know if this is true or not, so I won't comment. unsuccessful ASIC-resistance (which some argue is inevitable) may still be worse than ASIC-friendliness. I think a key point in his argument is this idea, I think it's worth noting that /u/smooth_xmr is not convinced that we should stick with ASIC-resistant algorithms: Proposal to consider an ASIC-friendly proof of work. This discussion very much asks the question, "What is AEOn all about?" Please consider participating! Alternatively, if you simply write them in this thread, I or someone else will add them in soon.Īlso, I'd like to point to this issue (note: I'm sci-comp on GitHub).Īlthough I currently disagree with this PoW implementation, I think the discussion here is valuable. Please consider filling in some information and pushing the changes. In order to see AEOn's future, it might help to take a look into the past. ![]() Does AEOn meet these requirements? Is AEOn at risk of losing the current brand to someone else? If so, should a legal trademark for AEOn be established? Before going through this process, is re-branding a possibility? However, a common requirement we're seeing is that the project must respect existing trademarks. Why does this matter? We've been discussing the possibility of real world advertisements in the community chat. After all, this is technically the correct usage of the acronym ( Anonymous Electronic Online). First off, I've spelled AEOn like this on purpose to start a discussion. ![]()
